In all but four cities, Wilson will be accompanied by a local symphony orchestra.

The concerts will start with an orchestral overture of Wilson classics arranged by longtime collaborator Van Dyke Parks. Wilson and his band will perform an acoustic set, then join the orchestra for the complete performance of Pet Sounds, to conclude the shows.

The first leg of the tour kicks off in Pennsylvannia on July 7 and winds through the East and Midwest. The outing will stop in about 15 cities, including Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, Houston and Dallas, and wraps at Atlanta’s Chastain Park on July 30.

After an August break, the tour starts up again September 8 with a show at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Conn.

Among the stops in September are Wantagh, N.Y; Salt Lake City, Denver and Santa Barbara, Calif.

Wilson will perform sans orchestra July 15 in Baltimore, July 23 in Cleveland, July 27 in Austin, Texas, and September 19 & 20 in the San Jose, Calif., area.

The tour closes in Los Angeles with a show at the Hollywood Bowl September 24.

Wilson’s touring band comprises Los Angeles-based musicians Darian Sahanaja, Mike D’Amico, Probyn Gregory and Nick Walusko; Poi Dog Pondering’s Paul Mertens and Bob Lizik; Scott Bennett, Jim Hines and Taylor Mills.

The enigmatic songwriter recently recorded a double CD, Live At The Roxy Theatre, which includes classic tracks, new songs, and acoustic versions of some of his favorites from the Beach Boys and his solo career.
