Bennett and Krall start the tour with the L.A. gigs and work their way through 14 cities, winding down at Radio City Music Hall in New York City September 16.

Both performers won 1999 Grammy Awards for their current releases. Bennett’s came in the best traditional pop vocal category for Bennett Sings Ellington: Hot And Cool. Krall’s When I Look Into Your Eyes won for best jazz vocal.

In addition, Krall received a nomination for album of the year, highly unusual for a jazz recording.

Bennett and Krall have joined forces before, sharing the stage at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va. last summer.

For this tour, Bennett will be accompanied by the Ralph Sharon Quartet. Singer/pianist Krall will be backed by her own trio.

The legendary Bennett has won nine Grammys and sold more than 30 million albums since he first signed with Columbia Records in 1950. He has influenced many contemporary performers, including Krall.

Krall often includes a version of Bennett’s first hit, “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” in her own performances. She expressed her admiration for Bennett: “It will be like a master class for me. “

Bennett is equally effusive about Krall. “Diana is a real musician and is that rare individual who loves what she is doing which the audience responds to and supports.”
