Farm Aid 2000
Willie Nelson has once again settled on the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Va., near Washington, D.C., as the venue for the annual Farm Aid benefit on September 17, a spokesperson for the organization told Pollstar.
Nelson will again be joined on stage by Farm Aid co-founders Neil Young and John Mellencamp, with more performers to be announced soon, the spokesperson said.
Farm Aid 1999 drew a sellout crowd of more than 20,000 to the same venue.
Nelson, Mellencamp and Young started Farm Aid in 1985 to raise public awareness about the plight of the American family farmer and to provide assistance to those families whose livelihood depends on agriculture.
In the past 15 years, Farm Aid has granted more than $15 million to more than 100 farm organizations, churches and service agencies in 44 states.
