Barker was tackled on the street and had a pinky finger broken June 4 by one of two “big, jock-type guys” who had allegedly been harassing Barker’s girlfriend moments before, band manager Rick DeVoe told Pollstar.

Blink-182 pressed Fenix, TX guitarist Damon Delapaz into service behind the kit and the Cleveland-area show at Blossom Music Center went on as scheduled that evening.

Fenix, TX and Bad Religion are supporting Blink-182 on the tour which ends July 8 in Hawaii.

The emergency solution worked so well, according to DeVoe, that Delapaz is on double-duty for the remainder of the tour, so no dates are in danger of cancellation.

Delapaz found out about his new assignment about an hour before showtime, following the incident that began in a fast-food restaurant, DeVoe said.

“They [Barker and his girlfriend] went inside the restaurant, and Travis went to use the bathroom and his girlfriend sat down at a table. Then, these two big jock-looking types started harassing her until he came back,” DeVoe told Pollstar.

“They were vibing him out real hard, so [Barker and his girlfriend] started walking down the street. This truck pulled over and this guy about six-foot-four jumped out and tackled Travis, and he broke his finger on the way down.

“He didn’t even see it coming.”

The incident was reported to local police and DeVoe said Barker intends to press charges. Barker is expected to be out for about four weeks but will be back in time for Blink-182’s scheduled appearance at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif., July 29.
