The group boasts a roster of personnel who have crossed paths in bands from Public Image Ltd., to Ministry to Pigface, rolled into one package by founder Martin Atkins.

Besides his extensive musical resume, Atkins is also a noted producer and owner of the band’s label, Invisible Records.

Joining Atkins in the lineup is former Ministry, Murder Inc. and Revolting Cocks vocalist Chris Connelly, Killing Joke guitarist Geordie Walker and ex-Public Image Ltd. bassist Jah Wobble.

“Martin’s the instigator who put the whole thing together,” The Damage Manual spokesman Carl Hanni told Pollstar. “Martin and Wobble played together 20 years ago in PiL, and Martin wanted to play with him again, so they got together and did some recording and liked how it was going.

“Wobble said he always wanted to play with Geordie and they got together; so they had three-quarters of a band. They needed someone to sing and write lyrics, and Chris is someone who has worked with a lot of people, too. So the band just came together,” Hanni said.

As groundbreaking as Martin and Wobble’s PiL was 20 years ago, Atkins and company still “have all the volume, fire and intensity – probably more so in some cases – than back then,” Hanni explained.

“They all came from very influential bands, but they also utilize the new technology available. The full technology is folded into The Damage Manual; add break beats and scratching that morph into John Bonham-style drum rolls and guitars and you’re into heavysville.”

The band’s Invisible Records debut EP, 1, dropped April 24, and they’re now on a brief European tour warming up for a Stateside club outing.

Keyboardist Lee Fraser will join the band for the tour, which kicks off June 13 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC and hits 20 cities before winding down July 3 in Tempe, Ariz. The Damage Manual then travels back across the pond for the Dour festival in Belgium.

Former Pigface vocalist Meg Lee Chin as well as Not Breathing support The Damage Manual on the North American dates.

The group plans to release a full-length album in the fall and anticipates another U.S. tour in October and November.
