In keeping with tradition, the music and camping fest takes place during the summer solstice.

“Gathering of the Vibes started as a grassroots response to the death of Jerry Garcia, an attempt at keeping some of the Grateful Dead spirit and community alive” said event organizer Ken Hays. “Five years later, to see what the Vibes has become is truly inspiring.”

Making its debut at the fest is Rat Brigade, which was put together by Claypool specifically for Gathering of the Vibes. The band features drummer Jay Lane (Rat Dog, Primus, Charlie Hunter Trio) and Jeff Chimenti (Art Farmer, Phaorah Sanders) on keyboards.

The Upright Citizens Brigade has just wrapped the third season of their self-titled Comedy Central series. The group was formed in Chicago eight years ago and performs at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City.

They will present a late-night performance on the campground stage June 24. That show requires a camping pass, which is included in the price of a weekend ticket.

Other artists appearing at the Gathering include jam band stalwarts like Bob Weir’s Ratdog, David Grisman, moe.,John Scofield, Merl Saunders, Deep Banana Blackout, and Sonia Dada.

Tickets for the event are $35 for a day pass and $75 for all three days.
