Singer Assaulted After Gig
Singer/pianist Frankie Ford suffered head and eye lacerations requiring several stitches after being attacked at a Fredericksburg, Va., hotel following a concert June 17.
The attack by an unidentified assailant took place after Ford left a limousine at the hotel.
Ford, best known for his 1959 hit “Sea Cruise,” was taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. He was discharged early the next morning in order to catch a flight back to his home in Louisiana.
A statement released by his Sea Cruise Productions said Ford, the Dixie Cups and Troy Shondell will perform as scheduled June 21-26 in Vienna, Austria.
