Mötley Crüe Singer Hit By Heavy Metal
Mötley Crüe performed a shorter-than-usual set at a recent stop in Hartford, Conn., after a projectile thrown from the audience smacked frontman Vince Neil in the head. The culprit was nabbed by venue security and the singer is considering pressing charges, according to a band spokesperson.
The Crüe was launching into its seventh song at Meadows Music Centre August 5 when the object – rumored to be a metal bolt – struck Neil, cutting his forehead.
According to the Hartford Courant, he stopped singing “Home Sweet Home” and left the stage when he realized he was bleeding. The audience was told Neil was receiving medical attention and would return shortly.
The singer reappeared after 10 minutes, saying only “Let’s try again,” before the band picked up where it had left off. The set reportedly clocked in at about 70 minutes and was only shortened by four songs.
A spokesperson for the band told Pollstar August 7 that Neil was meeting with lawyers about pressing charges against his assailant, who was not identified.
