The Scorpions, those old-school, heavy-metal favorites from Germany, are teaming up with local orchestras for five dates in the West this fall. Confirmed are shows at the America West Arena in Phoenix September 21, Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas the 23rd and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles the 28th.

The unique package is also expected to touch down in the Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego and San Francisco areas.

The Scorpions have already taken the Berlin Philharmonic out for a spin, performing for some 10,000 fans at Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany. The reviews were enthusiastic and now, Klaus Meine, Rudolph Schenker and the rest of the gang will try it in the States.

Balancing out the soaring metal melodies and obligatory guitar solos will be Night Ranger. The ‘80s lite-metal hitmakers will open in LA and San Francisco.
