A statement on her official Web site read, “Due to efforts to avoid a lengthy or serious vocal problem, Christina’s doctors, concerned that her voice is slightly strained due to her heavy schedule, have asked her to take three days off and rest.”

A September 11 concert in Virginia Beach, Va., was nixed the day of the show as was a September 9 performance at the Tweeter Center near Boston. Those two concerts are expected to be rescheduled.

Earlier this month, the teen diva had to cancel a show at the New York State Fair in Syracuse and a performance on “The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.”

Aguilera did manage to sing at last week’s MTV Video Music Awards and is expected to be in Los Angeles on the 12th to rehearse for the Latin Grammy Awards. She’s scheduled to appear at that event the following night.

Her throat problems have not affected plans to release two albums. Her first Spanish-language effort, Mi Reflejo, hits stores September 12, and a holiday album called My Kind of Christmas comes out October 29.

The diminutive star’s current tour itinerary runs through October 19 but don’t be surprised if she remains in the spotlight promoting her new albums.
