Following a brief stay in Japan and a 13-show tour of the U.K. he will play 10 shows in the U.S. and Canada starting November 3. Stops include Boston, New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Gough picked up the coveted Mercury Prize for his The Hour Of Bewilderbeast album, beating out fellow nominees Richard Ashcroft, Coldplay, Death In Vegas, The Delgados, The Doves, Helicopter Girl, Leftfield, Kathryn Williams, MJ Cole, Nicholas Maw, and Nitin Sawnhey.

The award-winning disc is set for an October 3 release in the States.

The Mercury Prize is considered one of the most prestigious music awards, with a commitment to honoring musical talent rather than album sales. Previous recipients include Primal Scream, Portishead, Pulp, Roni Size/Reprazent, and last year, Talvin Singh.

Sometimes referred to as the next Beck or lumped into the lo-fi category, Gough has earned acclaim from fans and critics for his finely crafted pop songs. His subtle acoustic live show was a highlight at a number of summer U.K. music festivals.
