The Maytag-sponsored Making Music Matter – A Family Concert for Conservation tour will bring the three rising country stars to Boston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., for free performances beginning at the Boston Symphony Hall October 28.

Other specific dates and venues aren’t confirmed yet but Chesney, Evans and Day will perform from Maytag’s float during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City November 23 and will close the tour April 22 during Earth Day 2001 festivities in Washington, D.C.

The free concerts are also sponsored in part by the U.S. Department of Energy and its Energy Star program. In addition to the music, there will be forums and sponsor booths where concert-goers can pick up samples, coupons and literature about conserving natural resources.

“I am proud to be a part of the Making Music Matter conservation program,” Chesney said. “It is important to show families, especially our children, the simple steps they can take to conserve our planet’s resources.”

Maytag will also launch a Web site October 3 where fans can get updated information about the tour, register for tickets and learn more about conservation efforts.
