Waterboys Extend European Tour
Founder Mike Scott, who started the band in London in 1981, has assembled a new lineup of musicians for the tour. The outing kicks off at Exeter University in England on October 14 and stops at 10 other medium-sized theatres and universities throughout the U.K. The first leg winds down with a two-night stand at The Astoria in London October 29 and 30.
The band crosses the Channel on November 2, kicking off a second leg at the Paradise Garage in Lisbon. The Waterboys will make stops in Spain, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Denmark and Norway before returning to Ireland December 12 – 14.
The Waterboys reunion album, A Rock in a Weary Land, was released through RCA on September 18.
Scott initially dissolved the band in 1993 and continued as a solo artist.
In other Waterboys-related news, former keyboardist Karl Wallinger is mounting a comeback with World Party, the one-man band he formed in 1985. The latest album, Dumbing Up, came out August 21 and the first four World Party records were reissued a week later.
