At least Boyzone star Ronan Keating didn’t. He quickly postponed the start of a scheduled U.K. tour in order to appear with Sir Elton October 20 and 21 at the Garden in New York City.

Keating was due to embark on his own tour October 21 in Liverpool. The start date has been pushed to November 21 and moved from the Empire to the Manchester Apollo.

His October 22 gig at Newcastle City Hall is rescheduled for November 20 and the Edinburgh Playhouse event on October 23 will instead take place November 19.

He hopes the girls understand. “I’ve been asked to perform with Elton John at Madison Square Garden in New York. This show clashes with the start of the tour. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I’m sorry, but hope you understand that I’ve got to reschedule these shows,” he announced.

Keating’s debut solo album, Ronan, reached No. 1 on the U.K. charts in August. He’s also a leading member of Boyzone – the Irish quintet that set the standard for boy bands before anyone had heard of Backstreet Boys.
