Jakob Dylan and the band have tapped Everlast to open at least eight shows – mostly on the West Coast – beginning November 9 at the University of San Diego.

The outing is booked so far through November 22 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, with stops in between at Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, Seattle, Vancouver and Salt Lake City.

The announcement comes just as the Wallflowers release their third studio album, Breach, with its first single, “Sleepwalker.”

Everlast is an interesting pick to open the Wallflowers’ first outing since 1998. The one-time frontman for House of Pain has gone his own way, and it’s been quite a ride for the performer.

During the recording of his second solo album, 1998’s Whitey Ford Sings The Blues, he suffered a massive heart attack resulting from a congenital defect and underwent valve replacement surgery.

Everlast made a full and speedy recovery in time to collaborate on Carlos Santana’s smash Supernatural and earn a hefty career boost. He wrote and performed “Put Your Lights On” from that 1999 blockbuster.

He’s on tour with Santana through October 26 and his newest release, Eat At Whitey’s, awaits an October 17 release date.
