Warren Zevon Gets Around
Zevon sat in for Paul Shaffer on the “Late Show With David Letterman” while the band leader was appearing at a Gore/Lieberman fund-raiser. That seems apropos since Zevon himself was spotted at the Democratic National Convention as a guest of the Tennessee delegation.
He joined Jill Sobule at her Hollywood House Of Blues gig in August, played a couple high-profile benefit shows, narrated a Discovery Channel documentary on author Carl Hiaasen, wrote a hockey song with his sportswriter friend Mitch Albom (“Tuesdays With Morrie”), and is composing the score for an independent film.
Oh yes, he also released a critically acclaimed album, Life’ll Kill Ya, earlier this year.
Zevon’s been playing some solo one-off shows and his tour dates start November 20 in Madison, Wis. Don’t be surprised if his itinerary takes him to the U.K. soon. His reps are rumored to be working on putting together a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
