It’s A Long Way From Rio
Duran Duran will embark on a whirlwind tour of Eastern Europe in early 2001, after taking a few weeks off at the end of their North American outing which wraps up January 4 in Miami.
Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and Warren Cuccarullo will kick off the trek January 28 in the Croatian city of Zagreb, then travel through the Ukraine and Russia before winding down in Tallinn, Estonia, February 4.
The onetime poster boys for 1980s Brit pop released their first album for Hollywood Records, Pop Trash, in June and have been on the road in support of the disk most of the year.
The album is produced by guitarist Cuccurullo, who toiled with Missing Persons before joining Duran Duran.
“The things that I was interested in all kept coming back to the same thing — being human,” keyboardist Rhodes said of the record. “The varying degrees of madness and dysfunction. The album is based on reflections of human behavior, really.”
