Griffith may be best known for her intimate folk songs – and her heartfelt covers of other influential folk tunes on her Grammy-winning Other Voices, Other Rooms – but it won’t mark her first foray into the more classical genres.

“This Heart”, an original ballet featuring seven of Griffith’s songs, depicts a day and night of a relationship and provided the musical origins for her most recent album, Dust Bowl Symphony. The record is a collection of her favorite music, arranged for and backed by the London Symphony Orchestra.

“This Heart” was premiered by the Nashville Symphony and the Nashville Ballet early in 1999 to strong critical praise.

For the February performances, Griffith will be backed by her own Blue Moon Orchestra – an eight-piece outfit that includes two members of Buddy Holly’s backup band, the Crickets.

Mosser will be performing music for another ballet – “Pop” – with her Enough Rope band. Paul Vasterling – who choreographed the three ballets – will also debut “Awaiting Redemption,” with music written and performed by Ketchum.
