That’s about to change. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and Double Trouble are teaming to deliver a one-two punch on the road this spring, with up-and-coming songstress Lizzie West opening.

The Trouble Is … Double Tour launches April 10 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, and the first leg of the theatre outing takes the musicians across the South and West through late April.

A second leg of the tour is expected to run from mid-May well into June and will be announced shortly.

Shepherd has traded licks with Double Trouble before. He appears on the band’s new release, Been A Long Time, along with blues stalwarts Jonny Lang, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Charlie Sexton, Dr. John, and vocalist Malford Milligan, among other guest turns.

Layton and Shannon are expected to be anchors of the band’s touring edition, which will also include Malford Milligan. The rest of the lineup will be announced soon.

“This tour is going to be a real event,” Shepherd said. “Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon are great friends. They have played on my records, I have played on their new record, and I am honored that they have agreed to go out with us on their first tour in 11 years … every show is going to be a huge jam session!”

Shepherd will be out in support of his latest, Live On, the third release from the 22-year-old guitar whiz.

The tour marks the first national outing for West, who is backing her debut album, holy road.
