The Dave Matthews Band caravan has tacked on additional shows at stadiums and amphitheatres in some previously announced markets, and announced dates in more North American cities. In other words, the band is going to be on the road all summer.

Second – and in some cases, third – shows have been added to stops in San Francisco; Detroit; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Camden, N.J.; and Chicago.

DMB has added 15 more shows – including a few arena dates – to extend the tour through at least August 28 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Other new stops include Tampa, Fla.; Virginia Beach, Va.; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Hershey, Pa.; Montreal and Toronto. A three-night stand has been penciled in August 24-26 at The Gorge amphitheatre in George, Wash.

While Macy Gray is opening for DMB on many of the previously-announced shows. A publicist for the soul diva told Pollstar she is currently working on a new record and has not confirmed whether she will continue on the new dates.

With an itinerary approaching 50 shows reaching some of the largest venues on the continent, the Dave Matthews Band is clearly gunning for the top of this year’s touring heap.

It won’t be unfamiliar territory for the Virginia-based band, which was the third highest-grossing act of the year in 2000 with $68.2 million, behind only Tina Turner and ‘N Sync. They’ve ranked no lower than fourth in ticket sales in Pollstar’s year-end analysis for the last three years, ringing up more than $156.8 million in gross receipts during that time.

Tickets for the newly-announced dates go on sale April 7 through Ticketmaster.
