James Taylor Announces Big Tour
It’s a busy time for Sweet Baby James. In addition to the November 2000 release of James Taylor’s Greatest Hits Vol. 2, the singer-songwriter and his wife, Kim, recently married and announced they are expecting the birth of twins with the help of a surrogate mother.
The caravan will hit sheds, arenas and large theatres in more than 50 cities and will draw from Taylor’s lengthy career, which has been honored by the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The first leg is lined up and ready to roll June 1 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Highlights will include a total of six shows in the New York City area, with two at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
Taylor celebrates the July 4th holiday in his home state with two shows at Tanglewood in Lennox, Mass.
The second leg of the tour will launch in August but the dates haven’t been finalized.
Some of the highlights that have been firmed up include a two-night Labor Day weekend stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, and a scheduled wrap at the Hollywood Bowl.
Taylor had been touring performing arts centers with orchestras but this time, he’s going out with a full backing band, multimedia production and new stage design.
