The first show, July 26 at Casinorama outside Toronto, Ontario, marks the only Canadian date on the schedule so far. From there, the former Beatles drummer and his eclectic cavalcade of friends head to New England, the South, the Midwest and West Coast.

Earlier this year, Starr’s manager, David Fishof, said the tour was going to take the summer off. That changed when the lastest wave of Beatlemania became too big to ignore. So Fishof gathered an eclectic group of available artists and Starr selected a final lineup that is much different from the past seven All-Starr Bands.

“We’ve decided it’s time to move into the ‘80s!” Fishof told Pollstar, referring to the inclusion of synth wiz Howard Jones and percussionist extraordinaire Sheila E in the lineup.

Stars of the 1970s are still well-represented, including Mott the Hoople’s Ian Hunter; bassist Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer; and former Supertramp vocalist/guitarist Roger Hodgson.

Mark Rivera, who has been a mainstay of Billy Joel’s band, will serve as musical director.

Each band member will perform hits from their own repertoires and Starr will revive some Beatles’ classics and tunes of his own that he hasn’t performed onstage in many years.
