The British chanteuse’s album Lovers Rock reached the upper regions of the record charts despite little hype and her absence from the music scene since 1992’s Love Deluxe.

Her first outing since 1993 will launch July 14 in Vancouver, and so far consists of seven West Coast dates, including stops in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Interest in the Nigerian-born singer appears to be at its highest point since her mid-1980s heyday when she ruled the charts with signature tunes like “Smooth Operator” and “Sweetest Taboo.”

Recently, her entire back catalog was digitally remastered and rereleased, and two DVDs – “Live” and “Life Promise Pride Love” – are now available in stores.

Sade – born Helen Folasade Adu – does tend to take her time between projects. Four years elapsed between her third and fourth albums, Stronger Than Pride and Love Deluxe.

With eight years passing between her last album and now, fans will be wise to catch her while they can.
