R. Kelly Takes On The World
The Grammy-winning artist will tour with a live band and support acts Sunshine Anderson and Syleena Johnson on this theatre tour.
A Jive Records spokesperson told Pollstar that the next leg of the tour will probably be announced later this summer. Kelly is reportedly weighing his options here and abroad, and seeing which acts are available to join his caravan.
Kelly has a knack for hitting the road with hip touring companions. On his last tour in 1999, he shared the stage with Nas and Foxy Brown. He’s also made the rounds with LL Cool J, Xscape, and Salt-N-Pepa. And way back in the day, he opened for En Vogue.
After arriving on the scene with the band Public Announcement in 1991, Kelly went on to make a name for himself as a solo artist and put his stamp on R&B history with the international hit “I Believe I Can Fly” in 1997.
Along with scoring 15 Top 40 hits of his own, he has penned and/or produced songs for Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Janet Jackson, Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, Nas, Maxwell, Kirk Franklin, K-Ci & JoJo, and Aaliyah.
