Double Drummer Bummer
Cheap Trick‘s hard-hitting drummer, Bun E. Carlos, is off the band’s current tour. Carlos is scheduled to undergo a corrective back procedure this month.
The surgery was expected, but it’s taking place earlier than anticipated. Daxx Nielsen of the band Harmony Riley will sit behind the kit until Carlos returns.
Cheap Trick is on the road until September, playing fairs, festivals, and beyond.
Definitive indie band Guided By Voices didn’t fare as well when their drummer was sidelined. The group has been forced to cancel its July U.S. tour after drummer Jon McCann broke his hand. GBV will soldier on for a couple of shows – July 21 and 25 – with the aid of former drummer Jim MacPherson.
The band heads to England next month for the Reading and Leeds festivals, and is plotting a rescheduled U.S. tour for the fall.
