Machinehead’s label say that the group will be embarking on their own tour and dates will be announced shortly

Instead of spending time out on the road promoting their new album, Powerman 5000 will head back to the studio to revamp the now postponed Anyone for Doomsday?, which was scheduled to be released on August 28. The road trip was set to start September 6 in Kansas City.

In a statement, group leader Spider One explained that the band was under enormous pressure to meet the album’s deadline in time for the tour. He said there were songs that needed to be included on the new album and they want to properly finish the disc before hitting the road.

However, there are also reports that Dreamworks, the band’s record label, was not happy with the album they submitted and wanted them to work with other writers.

Powerman 5000 had already completed filming the video for their first single, “Bombshell.” The single will be featured on the soundtrack to the movie “Tough Enough,” due out October 2.

In addition to calling off all tour dates, the group has nixed all in-store appearances and an August 27th record release party in Boston.
