Milli Vanilli ‘Singer’ Takes A Shower
Now they have a chance to find out – literally – if the surviving half of the duo can.
Fabrice Morvan is staging a comeback singing karaoke in a traveling shower stall. His act is part of a Midwestern tour sponsored by Malibu Rum and dubbed “Showerpalooza.”
The outing features a recording booth resembling a shower – complete with steam and soap bubble effects. Audience members can step in and record themselves singing – with Fab serving as MC – and get a DVD of their performance.
The former poseur must have one heck of a sense of humor to take on this project, considering the personal crash-and-burn he and late Milli Vanilli partner Rob Pilatus endured when it was discovered the one-time Grammy “best new artist” lip-synced their way to fame.
“We asked ourselves, who in the music community sings but is almost in a position to make fun of themselves?” said Malibu Rum spokesman Stuart Kirby. “Fabrice immediately came to mind.”
Incidentally, Morvan is reportedly recording an album using his actual voice.
The Malibu Showerpalooza extravaganza kicked off in an Indianapolis tiki bar August 15, and stops in Detroit August 17. The caravan has stops next week in Milwaukee, Chicago and Minneapolis.
