Pete Yorn Moves Up
With a boost from MTV2’s heavy rotation of the single “Life On A Chain,” Yorn’s debut, Musicforthemorningafter, has fared well on the charts and on critics’ notepads. Many have hailed his record as one of the year’s best.
In true story-book style, Yorn was discovered by a record label rep while performing a set in the Los Angeles hipster hangout Largo. One thing led to another and before he knew it, Yorn was writing for films and TV shows.
Two of his songs were featured in the film “Me, Myself, And Irene,” and his music has also been featured on the TV shows “Felicity” and “Dawson’s Creek.” Not bad for a young singer/songwriter who was described as mic-shy just a few years back.
Just days after the album was released in March, Yorn joined Semisonic for his first tour. He then linked up with jam band Blues Traveler for a few sold-out dates before headlining his own tour in the summer.
Support act Remy Zero have been out with Scottish lads Travis in recent weeks. They take a few days off before heading back out with Yorn.
In addition to his own tour, Yorn joins artists Elliott Smith, Ozomatli, Shelby Lynne, and Sparklehorse for A Sounds Eclectic Evening at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles November 9.
He’ll also perform at Elton John‘s AIDS Foundation Benefit at the Universal Amphitheatre in LA December 12.
