Two days after his Memphis gig, Strait returns to the Reliant Astrodome to headline a sold-out performance at the RodeoHouston on March 3. Strait has been absent from the for the past four years, but had been an annual performer for 15 years prior.

Strait has famously shied away from solo arena tours in recent years. Although he still makes regular stage appearances – mostly on his George Strait Country Music Festival stint – his last headlining, non-festival orientated tour was a six-date outing in 1997.

In addition to his huge festival outings, occasional one-off appearances pepper Strait’s extensive tour history. Last year he helped out with the Country Freedom benefit concert and made an appearance in San Antonio in June.

Last November, Strait released his 28th album, titled The Road Less Traveled. The famous country star has sold an estimated 57 million albums in his two-decade-long career.

There is talk of Strait returning in fall 2002 for a full-blown arena tour, but details have yet to be confirmed.
