A vital force in the Spanish-language rock scene, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs helped spark international interest in the rock en Español movement with their with unique mix of rock, rap, ska, reggae, and traditional South American sounds.

The eight-member outfit has been together for 15 years, and although they were hugely successful in Spanish-speaking countries, it wasn’t until the release of their 1996 hit song “Matador” that they broke the language barrier and reached global fame. They won an MTV Video Music Award for the song, paving the way for other Latin-influenced artists to come.

When the Grammys added a new category – best Latin rock/alternative record – in 1998 Los Fabulosos Cadillacs were the first to take it home.

The band recently marked their 15 year anniversary together, won another MTV Music Award and been nominated for two Latin Grammys. They continue to be one of rock en Español’s hardest touring artists, handily selling out theatres in the U.S. and attracting huge audiences in Latin America.

One of the highlights of the band’s 2001 touring schedule was a three-night run at Palacacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City which drew more than 52,000 fans.
