The Bowery Ballroom in New York lands a four-night stand at the end of The White Stripes’ mini-tour, April 5-8.

Like the childhood candy they named themselves after, The White Stripes are a simple, almost innocent rock & roll band. Formed in Detroit in 1997 by Jack White (guitar and vocals) and Meg White (drums), the band’s stripped-down minimalist sound has grabbed the critics’ and the public’s attention.

Although they had two albums out prior to 2001’s White Blood Cells and two tours with fellow indie rockers Pavement and Sleater-Kinney under their belts, it wasn’t until the U.K. music press began talking that the Stripes became known in their home country.

Since then, they’ve been filling clubs throughout the States and were a prominent player at last year’s South By Southwest festival.

Just before The White Stripes begin their set of U.S. gigs, the two will be in Norway on March 14 for the UKEN Festival.
