Two Las Vegas concerts will feature special guest bands each night. Los Lobos and Michael Franti & Spearhead open May 31 and The Roots and Antibalas open June 1. These are the only shows on the tour with opening acts.

Accompanying Anastasio on the trek are his usual backing band: Tony Markellis (bass), Russ Lawton (drums), Ray Paczkowski (keys), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet), Dave Grippo (alto sax), Andy Moroz (trombone) and Russell Remington (tenor sax). New to the crew is percussionist Cyro Baptista who joined during the recording sessions for the upcoming album.

Phish has been on hiatus since 2000, allowing Anastasio time to tour and record with his side project Oysterhead as well as focus on his solo work. This is his third solo venture – the prior ones taking place in 1999 and 2001. His eponymous debut album is due out April 30.

Tickets for most of the concerts are available directly through Anastasio’s online ticketing system for a 10-day period beginning March 12. The public sale then begins March 30. Demand for the ducats could be high, especially if Phishheads are feeling the need to congregate. His previous outings of similar-sized venues (1,000 to 3,000 seats) have widely been sell-outs.

Meanwhile, fellow Phish-mate Page McConnell and his crew, Vida Blue – comprising Oteil Burbridge of Allman Brothers Band fame and Russell Batiste of Funky Meters – take to the road in April for a little trek around well-known clubs along the Eastern seaboard.
