The grand finale at the end of the week will be an evening of performances by the Average White Band, Hiram Bullock Band featuring Will Lee, Dr. John, The Blues Brothers Band and the original diva, Aretha Franklin.

A free series of jazz films, such as “Louis Armstrong – 30 Years Of TV Performances,” “Bird – The Story Of Charlie Parker” and “Jazz Shorts, Animation & Performances,” will be featured. Also taking place at the fest is a series of educational workshops for students.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to develop the premiere edition of the Rochester International Jazz Festival,” said event producer John Nugent. “We’ve strived to create an innovative, diverse and all encompassing lineup which includes renowned jazz and creative, improvising artists from around the globe.”

Tickets are now on sale and range from $10 to $35.
