U2 Stays Home
For weeks now, rumors have been circulating that U2 would be returning to the road this summer to play some low-key European shows. Some of the rumblings have even mentioned a co-headline with the U.K.’s other famous band, Oasis. Sorry folks, but neither is on the books.
POLLSTAR has confirmed through the group’s management, Principle Management, that U2 will not be touring this summer. As they said, “we’ll all just have to watch the Elevation tour DVD over and over again.”
U2 verified that fact with a post on their official Web site stating that “contrary to current rumours, there’ll be no U2 dates this summer.”
Since the beginning of 2001, U2 has toured the world including 80 shows in North America for capacity crowds. The tour was so successful that the Irish lads returned to the States for a second round. At the end of the day, U2 grossed more than $109 million on this side of the pond and nabbed POLLSTAR’s Major Tour Of The Year Award.
