Although she performed a handful of holiday shows and one-off gigs, it’s been three years since Morissette last toured North America. Her last outing, in 1999, spanned the entire year, beginning with a tour of the States with Liz Phair and Garbage alternating time in the support slot. Morissette then headed north for a sold-out run around her native Canada. After wrapping that up, she hooked up with Tori Amos for a co-bill tour of the States. That outing lasted for two months before Morissette took wing for international destinations.

Newbie rocker Adams, however, has been steadily gigging his way around the globe since last fall. Elton John’s ravings about Adams hasn’t hurt his concert turnout either. Already this year, he’s been packing theatres worldwide.

The former Wiskeytown leader’s sophomore album, Gold, was released last October to rave reviews. Adams continues to be a critic’s favorite, getting three Grammy nods, one for best rock album.

Morissette’s record, Under Rug Swept, marks the singer/songwriter’s first new material in four years.
