Tyrese, 23, sustained cuts and injured his back in the crash last Friday in a desert area of Riverside County in Southern California, publicist Courtney Barnes said Tuesday.

Tyrese and some friends had been riding their motorcycles in an off-road area when the accident happened. Barnes said he did not know what caused the crash but said Tyrese was thrown from the motorcycle, which was totaled.

Initially treated at a hospital there and released, Tyrese experienced lingering back pains and checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday, Barnes said.

In stable condition, Tyrese is expected to remain hospitalized at least until this weekend, Barnes added.

Tyrese’s albums include the R&B best-seller 2000 Watts. He starred in last year’s gritty urban drama “Baby Blue,” directed by John Singleton.
