The 24-date North American tour heads out August 1 in Dallas. A performance at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival one month later concludes the band’s outing. The tour includes a free concert at Central Park’s Summerstage in New York on August 11, and one on the 25th at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.

Sandwiched in between European and North American gigs, Sonic Youth are set to join DJ Shadow, Chemical Brothers, Patti Smith, The Get Up Kids and others for Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival.

In addition to their album of new tunes, Murray Street, which will be released this summer, Sonic Youth are also reissuing their 1992 classic, Dirty. The double-CD package will consist of the remastered record as well as B-sides, compilation tracks, unreleased 8-track demos and related graphics, with liner notes from Byron Coley. Dirty is slated for a release in the fall, with Goo and Daydream Nation to follow.
