First on the bill is Wyclef Jean, who is due to perform at New York City’s Astroland amusement park on June 14. The event is part of muchmusic usa’s Freedom Concert series and also marks the 75th anniversary celebrations of the legendary Cyclone roller coaster.

“We are excited to present this second concert in our Freedom Concert series with Wyclef Jean at the famous Coney Island and to kick off a year of celebrating the great Cyclone roller coaster,” said Marc Juris, president of muchmusic usa.

This is the second Freedom Concert sponsored by the Canadian-owned music video network. Last December, Melissa Etheridge launched the series with a performance inside the concourse of Grand Central Station in New York City.

Almost one month after ‘Clef rocks the park, the second annual will hit the stage. Sleater-Kinney, The Donnas, The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Les Savy Fav, The Von Bondies, Bob Log III, and Rye Coalition are some of the scheduled performers for the July 20 event.

The free, all-day, all-ages music and arts festival will feature national and local bands performing on two outdoor stages at the Coney Island amusement park. Additionally, the fest will present Cirque de Siren – a spectacle of drag, cabaret and eclectic circus performances.

Multimedia installations by local artists will also be showcased during the event.

Last year’s inaugural Siren fest featured Guided By Voices, Man or Astro-man?, Superchunk, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
