John Entwistle Dead On Eve Of Who Tour
The Who’s John Entwistle was found dead in his room at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas June 27th, on the eve of the band’s North American tour kickoff.
Clark County Coroner Ron Flud confirmed the death of the 57-year-old bassist to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and reported there were no signs that foul play was involved.
The Who were set to launch a 27-date tour the following night at the hotel’s venue, The Joint, before joining up with Counting Crows June 29th at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, Calif.
The death leaves just two living original members of the legendary band, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.
Drummer Keith Moon died of an accidental drug overdose in 1978.
