Willie Nelson To Aid Flood Victims
Texas’ own country music star will perform at a $100-a-ticket concert on August 5 at Gruene Hall, north of New Braunfels.
The money raised will go to New Braunfels Rebounds, which repairs homes for owners who do not have flood insurance.
Nelson also attended a benefit in 1998 for area flood victims.
“When Willie did the benefit show in ’98, it not only raised a lot of money, it raised a lot of people’s spirits as well,” said Mattson Rainer, program director for radio station KNBT.
Comal County Judge Danny Scheel said Wednesday that a ban on swimming and floating in the Comal River has been lifted.
“This is truly a great day,” New Braunfels Mayor Adam Cork told the San Antonio Express-News. “It took a tremendous amount of work to get the city back up where it needs to be, and we want to show everyone we have a wonderful place for you to come and play.”
Most of the Guadalupe River in Comal County remains closed to recreation because of flood debris, high river flow and possible water quality problems.
