Invasion Of The Punks
Los Angeles’ powerhouse new rock radio station, KROQ, is stamping in plans for its second Inland Invasion concert event. As was the case with last year’s inaugural day-long fest, the 2002 version features a very punk lineup with the Sex Pistols headlining. This gig will be the band’s first Stateside appearance since their 1996 reunion tour.
Other bands on the bill include Blink-182, The Offspring, Buzzcocks, TSOL, Distillers, New Found Glory, X, and The Damned.
The so-called “punk superbowl” will take over the G.H. Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore, Calif., September 14. Tickets go on sale August 10 and are priced at $35 plus the usual deluge of service charges, which may force the total amount up almost another $10.
In addition to a day filled with tunes, spiky hair and attitude, the Inland Invasion will also have a festival area featuring “booths and activities that support the lifestyle of the bands on the bill,” according to KROQ’s official Web site. Specifics on these things are perhaps best left to the imagination.
The first Inland Invasion event featured Incubus, Weezer and Pennywise among others.
