“When I was putting together the set list for this tour, I imagined myself sitting in the audience and I thought, “What would I like to hear him play?” said McCartney. “So, the tour is kind of a tour of my songs, representative of the whole span. It’s basically me, doing my stuff, including songs that I have never sung on stage before this tour.”

The two-and-a-half-hour show includes more than 30 songs and features tunes from his whole career – including Beatles, Wings, and solo period.

Driving Japan will mark only the fourth time that McCartney has toured the country in his career. He first performed in Japan in 1965 with the Beatles. In 1990, he returned for seven shows at the Tokyo Dome and in 1993 performed three more there. He also played the Fukuoka Dome that same year for two shows.

Macca was scheduled to tour Japan in 1980 with Wings but was forced to cancel the tour when he was deported for marijuana possession. Customs officers found 8 oz. of the weed in his luggage. He served nine days in jail and paid out £1 million in compensation for the canceled concerts.

Tickets for the Driving Japan tour are already on sale.
