Rolling Stones In Toronto
Keeping with tradition, the Rolling Stones will hold a “surprise” show in the city where they’ve been rehearsing for their upcoming Licks tour.
The band has been warming up their road legs in Toronto, just as they did for the Voodoo Lounge tour in 1994 and the Bridges To Babylon outing in 1997. Each time, they thanked the local fans with a not-so-secret gig.
According to the Toronto Star, the legendary band will take over the Palais Royale at 10 p.m. today, August 16. While management is keeping mum on the details, Palais Royale representatives have confirmed the group’s appearance.
Tickets are said to be going for $10 (Cdn.) with only 1,000 being sold. Fans have been lining up overnight in hopes of getting a shot at seeing the Stones.
The Rolling Stones officially kick off their tour September 3 at Boston’s FleetCenter. Dates will keep the band on the road into next year.
