Call it a stroke of good luck. The band is indeed supporting The Rolling Stones on two shows – October 4-5 – and have laid down plans for a fall headlining tour. No opening acts have been announced yet, but The Strokes say they’ll probably snatch an indie band as is their custom.

The new tour begins October 1 in Maine and continues through the end of November. More shows are expected to be added to the theatre run. The dates follow a handful of U.K. festival gigs at the end of August.

If the new tour is anything like their previous North American ventures, fans are best advised to get those tickets while they can. The Strokes have consistently sold out nearly every single Stateside performance since this time last year.

Their debut release, Is This It, has sold upwards of 700,000 copies to date and their videos are big hits with the MTV crowd. The Strokes expect to hit the studio at the end of the year to work on a sophomore disc.

Meanwhile, a limited edition Is This It album, featuring a bonus DVD, will be released at the start of the group’s tour. The extra material sports uncensored videos for the singles “Last Nite,” “Hard To Explain,” and “Someday,” among other goodies.
