The jaunt – which features the duo of Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian helped out by Texan keyboardist Dave Palmer – will be the first chance for fans to hear tracks off the band’s forthcoming second album. They also say this acoustic feat will not be repeated again. Along with new tunes, the group also promises a “visual element” on the new gigs.

“Acoustic chill” comes close to describing Turin Brakes’ sound. Some British music journalists have dubbed the genre the New Acoustic Movement (NAM), providing a home for Turin Brakes, Badly Drawn Boy, Starsailor, Elbow, Doves, and Kings Of Convenience, among others.

Although they’ve been friends since elementary school and jamming together since that time, Knights and Paridjanian only began to let the public in on their music in the past few years. After a few EPs, the duo began to play live shows with a full band at famed British summertime festivals like Reading and Leeds.

Turin Brakes were soon opening for bands like Lowgold, Doves, and Kathryn Williams. In 2001, they released their full length debut, The Optimist LP, and were rewarded with a Mercury Music Prize nomination.
