Lou Barlow’s Solo Acoustic Adventure
This fall finds Barlow away from the studio and on the road for the first time in awhile. The tour is being billed as a solo, acoustic outing and fans can expect to hear tunes from the Folk Implosion, Sebadoh and Sentridoh catalogs. He’ll also be showcasing new material from Free Sentridoh Songs From Loobiecore.
Earlimart and Alaska will open on all dates. Various members from both bands, as well members of Eels, Luscious Jackson and Sebadoh, have been in the studio with Folk Implosion recently as the band works on new material.
As to earlier rumors that Folk Implosion have disbanded, those were laid to rest when the band showed up for a surprise gig with the Flaming Lips in LA this past July. Barlow had announced Folk Implosion’s impending demise after a farewell performance at the Coachella Valley Music Festival this spring.
In a post on his Web site, Barlow said he’s “just finished five more songs for the New Folk Implosion collection. It’ll be done by the end of the month (September) for positive sure, ready for a January/February release.”
Speaking of new material, on Barlow’s Web site, www.loobiecore.com, fans can check out the “song of the weak” section where he has posted tunes to listen to but not for download. There are also other tracks – rarities and otherwise – hidden all around his homemade site.
Tickets for Barlow’s club run, which starts October 8 in California and circles the states through November, are a bargain basement low of $10.
