The first leg of Juanes’ U.S. tour launches between two award shows. He’ll hit the road September 22 – right after performing at the Latin Grammy Awards on the 18th. He wraps things up just prior to the MTV Latin Awards on October 24.

Juanes will be more than just a pretty face at the award shows; He’s up for three Grammy and five MTV awards thanks to his hit album, Un Dia Normal. The disc, his second solo offering, escaped the dreaded sophomore jinx and reached No. 1 on Latin music charts the world over.

After his American shows, Juanes will visit Spain for a 16 date tour, before hitting up South America and then landing back in the States by year’s end.

Venues are still being confirmed for the international set and second leg of the U.S. tour, which is said to include performances in several Florida and Texas locations.

As fans of Latin rock will know, Juanes first tasted fame with the rock en Español band Ekhymosis. After the group disbanded in 1998, Juanes struck out on his own and forged a solo career.

His debut album, Fijate Bien, was an eclectic blend of salsa, funk, rock ‘n’ roll, and vallenato (traditional Columbian folk music), and won him three Latin Grammy Awards out of an impressive seven nominations.
