Roxette Singer Diagnosed With Brain Tumor
Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson was hospitalized for a brain tumor discovered after the star fainted in her Stockholm home September 11. She has since returned home where she is resting and awaiting treatment.
According to the band’s management, Fredriksson, 44, suffered a serious concussion when she fainted and hit her head against a sink. Further tests revealed a small tumor in the back of her head. More tests have to be performed to determine proper treatment.
While Roxette’s immediate commitments have been canceled, it’s not known if the Swedish duo will launch its extensive Night of the Proms tour as expected on October 18. A new single, “A Thing About You,” is set for release October 14.
In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Fredriksson and her partner, Per Gessle, had a string of hits in the U.S. They remain a steady concert draw in Europe.
