The band will visit many of the same markets they hit this past spring while on a cross-country trek supporting Swedish buzz group The Hives.

The black-clad, New York City-based Suzuki hops around the West Coast before playing shows at the likes of the Metro/Smart Bar in Chicago and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. The outing is scheduled to dip into Canada three times, hitting Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. It wraps at Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT., October 29.

Joining Suzuki on all dates is all-girl act Sahara Hotnights, part of the mini-Swedish Invasion that includes The Hives, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, and The Soundtrack of Our Lives, among others. Known for their kinetic live show, Mooney Suzuki reportedly got their name by combining the last names of two kraut-rock giants, Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki, both of the avant-garde rock band Can. But don’t be fooled, the quartet has more in common with the MC5 and The Kinks than experimental music.

Mooney Suzuki’s latest album, the appropriately named Electric Sweat, was released earlier this year on Gammon Records.
