Melodic rockers Ours are set to open for the first leg, which stretches into December. More dates are expected to be added.

It’s Jakob Dylan and company’s first headlining tour since 2000, although they haven’t been too far from the road. Last year saw them supporting John Mellencamp, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, as well as squeezing in a few gigs of their own. This year, however, has been dedicated to working on the new album.

That’s why the Wallflowers are road-bound this winter season. Their fourth offering, Red Letter Days, will be released November 5 and is, according to the band, their strongest disc yet.

Radio isn’t the only media outlet giving the Wallflowers airtime. The band performed their new single “Everybody Out Of The Water,” on the October 3 episode of CBS’ “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” show.

The Wallflowers spent much of the early 1990s on the Los Angeles club circuit, getting their start at the Kibitz Room of local hangout Canter’s Delicatessen. Their self-titled 1993 debut sold about 40,000 copies and the band lost its recording contract, only to re-emerge with Interscope and the breakout sophomore album.

That album – Bringing Down The Horse – spawned the hits “6th Avenue Heartache,” “One Headlight” and “The Difference,” proving that Jakob was not merely riding the coattails of his dad, Bob Dylan.
